Iris Report 5/18/2010
The weather is very dreary. But over the past two days 2 new cultivars have bloomed and a third is ready. Tennessee Gentleman has a moderate sized bloom (Innerst, 1989) with a old-fashioned look. The Arilbred cultivar "Hakuna Matata" (Cadd, 1999) is a large full bloom with splotches of wine brown stain on a light gold field in it standards and deep gold falls. The the unusual beards are brown.
About to bloom is "Honey Scoop," (Sutton, 1996) which promises to have dramatic horns rising above its yellow and white falls.
